Women’s Rugby of Wisconsin
Collegiate Scholar Award
The Milwaukee Scylla and Wisconsin Women’s Rugby Clubs wish to further support collegiate women’s rugby in Wisconsin through the creation of the first-ever “Women’s Rugby of Wisconsin” Collegiate Scholar Award.
Co-funded by the two senior women’s rugby teams of our state, this award recognizes the hard work and perseverance of women’s collegiate rugby players both on the pitch and in the classroom.
Undergraduate collegiate women’s rugby players in their current freshman year or above who hold at least a cumulative 3.0 (“B”) grade-point average are eligible to apply for this award.
A committee, composed of current and former senior women’s rugby players in Wisconsin, will narrow down the pool of candidates to a small group of finalists. The essays of these finalists will be copied and displayed at the Luck of the Draw Women’s Rugby Tournament on Saturday, April 26 in Madison, WI, where each registered participant will be allowed to read the essays, posted anonymously, and cast one vote for the winner.
The award, of at least $300, will be equally split between the winning student-athlete and her home rugby club. The winner will be announced at the Luck of the Draw Women’s Rugby Tournament on Saturday, April 26 in Madison, Wis.
